Art Historian and photographer Susan Silberberg-Peirce has contributed more than 6,000 photographs of architecture and archeological sites to the Artstor Digital Library though her agency Canyonlights World Art Image Bank.

The selection in Artstor includes Dr. Silberberg-Peirce’s photographs of archaeological sites, architectural monuments, and landscapes, with a special focus on the Mediterranean region (Megalithic, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Turkish sites), Great Britain (Megalithic and Medieval sites), and the Southwestern United States (Prehistoric and Native American sites). Artstor also sponsored two additional photographic campaigns. The first expanded Canyonlights’ considerable coverage of Prehistoric and Native American sites in the Southwestern United States, documenting Chaco Canyon, the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, the Petroglyph National Monument, the Salinas National Monument, and the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site. A second initiative focused on Spanish Colonial missions in California. These photographs record the 18th and 19th century missions located along El Camino Real (“The King’s Highway”).

Silberberg-Peirce’s slides and photographs are used in teaching and research institutions throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Her widely published photographs have been exhibited internationally and her work is included in collections worldwide. She characterized her alliance with Artstor with optimism : “As a scholar and professor, I am acutely aware of the educational community’s need for high quality images. As a photographer, I am delighted to have the opportunity to share my documentation with a wider audience through Artstor’s distinguished portal.”
