The Art History Survey Collection—nearly 5,000 images—highlights the most celebrated and studied works of art and architecture from undergraduate curricula of predominantly western art. This survey collection derives from an overlap concordance based on 13 standard art history survey texts. It is intended to include at least one image of every object or monument reproduced in at least two of these texts. The Art History Survey Collection defines a consensus collection that supports widespread teaching needs but does not limit the teacher or student to a specific text. This collection is relevant to teachers of art history surveys as well as students seeking a comprehensive overview of western art.
