Photographer Bob Schalkwijk has contributed nearly 3,000 images from his archives of Pre-Columbian, Colonial, and Modern art from Mexico to the Artstor Digital Library. The selection in Artstor focuses on murals by renowned artists such as Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco, as well as many works by Frida Kahlo.

Netherlander Bob Schalkwijk began his professional career around 1960 in Mexico. In addition to his photography of Mexican art, Schalkwijk’s work documents culture and indigenous traditions. He has traveled throughout four continents as well as Mexico. His archives of more than 400,000 photographs range from portraits to landscapes. He published his first of many books, Mexico City, in 1965.
