The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) has contributed approximately 450 images of pochoir prints and photographs to the Artstor Digital Library.

The selection in Artstor consists of Parisian architectural design, mostly retail, dating from 1928-1932, both Interiors and exteriors. The pochoir process, made by applying layers of paint guided by thin zinc or copper cut-out stencils, is characterized by crisp edges and brilliant colors. Pochoir illustration was popular in 1920s Paris and was often featured in French fashion journals such as the Gazette du Bon Ton. Both the pochoir and photographic plates represent Art Deco design in the period following the International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts of 1925.

Founded in 1916, the New York School of Interior Design is the city’s only private, nonprofit college devoted exclusively to interior design and related disciplines. The Library at NYSID is one of the few educational libraries devoted to the study and scholarship of interior design in the United States.
