New Service: Images for Academic Publishing (IAP)
March 21, 2007
ARTstor in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art recently announced a new service, Images for Academic Publishing (IAP). IAP allows scholars to download and use, free of charge, high-resolution digital images for scholarly publications. Initially, nearly 1,700 images representative of the broad range of the Metropolitan Museum's encyclopedic collection will be available through the ARTstor interface to users at all ARTstor participating institutions. With time, we hope to grow the IAP service to include images from multiple sources. Users can download IAP images by providing some basic information and agreeing to the IAP Terms & Conditions of Use. To find an image that is available through IAP, simply add "IAP" to your search criteria. IAP images will have an icon reading "IAP" located directly beneath the thumbnail image.
- Click on the "IAP" icon found directly beneath the image's thumbnail. This will open the IAP window displaying a preview of the selected image and descriptive information.
- Click on "Download Image" from the IAP window. This will open the download request form.
- Fill in your contact and publication information, and select the size of the image you would like to download.
- Click on "Continue" to submit this information.
- Review the Terms and Conditions of Use. When finished, indicate your acceptance by checking the box at the end of the text (within the scrolling window).
- Click on the "Download Image" button.
- In the "Save As" dialog box, browse to a computer / server location where you would like to save the IAP image file. Click on "Save" to download the file.
For questions about the IAP service and related policies, please send an email to iap@artstor.org For technical question related to downloading IAP images, please contact ARTstor User Services at (888) 278-0079 or userservices@artstor.org
