ARTstor continues to expand its broad coverage of architecture with a recent release of more than 850 new direct digital photographs of contemporary architecture in Spain from ART on FILE. In 2008, professional photographers Rob Wilkinson and Colleen Chartier documented spectacular new buildings and recent expansions in Barcelona and Madrid including: Jean Nouvel Architects (Torre Agbar, Barcelona; Parc del Centre de Polbenou, Barcelona; Museo Nacional Reina Sofia expansion, Madrid); Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, EMBT (Santa Caterina Market, Barcelona; Diagonal Mar Park, Barcelona); Herzog & de Meuron (Edifici Forum, Barcelona; CaixaForum, Madrid); Josep Lluis Mateo, MAP Architects (International Convention Center Barcelona (CCIB); Free Zone Consortium Office Building); Albert Viaplana and Helio Pinon (Centre for Contemporary Culture Barcelona (CCCB)); Richard Meier (Barcelona Museum of Art); Richard Rogers Partnership (Barajas Airport, Madrid; Regional Archive and Library, Madrid); and Rafael Moneo (Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid; Prado Museum extension, Madrid; Atacho Train Station extension), and more.
These new photographs of Spanish architecture bring the total number of ART on FILE images in ARTstor to more than 9,600. Previous releases included selections from ART on FILE's remarkable archive of slides and transparencies, which documents contemporary architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and public art around the world. Wilkinson and Chartier have also produced new digital photography for ARTstor-sponsored campaigns in the United States, Berlin, and London.
