Johanna Bauman

Metadata Associate

As Metadata Associate Johanna Bauman works with the other members of the Metadata Team to map incoming data to be incorporated into ARTstor's online collections.

Johanna has been working in the field of computerized delivery of digital images for teaching since 1994 when she began scanning slides to support art history courses at the University of Virginia. Before coming to ARTstor, she worked at the Digital Media Center at the University of Virginia, as a project manager for an educational Internet start-up in Charlottesville, Virginia, and as the Visual Media Resources Curator at the Bard Graduate Center in New York City, where her duties included all aspects of managing a visual resources collection from cataloging and metadata to training and IT support.

Johanna has a B.A. in German Literature and History from George Mason University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Virginia specializing in medieval and Renaissance garden history. She is currently pursuing an M.L.S. at Queens College and occasionally publishes articles in the field of garden history.
