Valerie Borden
Associate Counsel
Valerie Borden is Associate Counsel for ARTstor. Ms. Borden is responsible for drafting and negotiating content, licensing and vendor agreements; performing legal due diligence on the ARTstor collections; and conducting research on a wide array of subjects including intellectual property, employment, exempt organization and contract matters.
Before joining ARTstor, Ms. Borden was an intellectual property associate at Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP in New York (2001-2004). Her practice focused on copyright, trademark, unfair competition and domain name matters. In addition to working on a number of transactional matters, Ms. Borden assisted in all phases of pre-trial and trial practice for intellectual property and general commercial litigation. Ms. Borden also interned for the National Gallery of Art; the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts; and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Ms. Borden received a B.A. from Bates College and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where she was an editor of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal. Ms. Borden is a member of the New York and Massachusetts state bars.
