Lisa Gavell

Metadata Assistant

Lisa Gavell is Metadata Assistant for ARTstor. She is responsible for assisting in analyzing, editing, and enhancing data sets provided by various contributors along established guidelines, as well as mapping contributed and hosted data for inclusion in the ARTstor database. Her other duties include evaluating user feedback and error reports in order to edit and enhance ARTstor data, as well as developing a workflow for editing individual records with the metadata team.

Prior to joining ARTstor, Lisa worked in the Department of Art History and Archaeology's Visual Media Center at Columbia University, where she helped to implement the digitization of the slide collection. While completing her graduate studies, she freelanced as an art history editor and researcher. She also served as documentation specialist for the de-installation of the Period Rooms at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Lisa holds an MA from Columbia University specializing in Art History and American Studies, and a BA from Simmons College in Art History and Women's Studies.
