Gretchen A. Wagner
General Counsel and Secretary
Before joining ARTstor, Ms. Wagner was the Assistant General Counsel of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (1999-2002), an associate at the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell (1997-1999), and a law clerk for the Eastern District of New York (1996-1997). As the Assistant General Counsel at The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Ms. Wagner drafted and negotiated numerous agreements involving the licensing and distribution of intellectual property. She also assisted in supervising personnel and human resources at the Foundation and worked on a wide range of nonprofit tax, finance, and contractual matters. Her work at Davis Polk included representation of major US companies in litigation concerning telecommunication, contracts, securities, criminal and other federal and state laws, and drafting position papers and proposed legislation on behalf of a well known legal association. Ms. Wagner also provided significant pro bono representation on immigration and criminal matters for indigent clients.
Ms. Wagner received a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was an editor of the Columbia Law Review, a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and the recipient of an award for her contributions to public service, and a B.A. from Yale University. Ms. Wagner is a member of the S.D.N.Y., E.D.N.Y., and New York State Bars.
