Integrating with courseware & local systems
Instructors wishing to share ARTstor content with students through local courseware systems such as Blackboard, WebCT, Sakai, or Moodle can do so in a variety of ways.
Sharing individual images
Each image in ARTstor has a "stable URL" associated with it. This URL can be emailed, embedded in Word or PowerPoint documents, or added as a link to syllabi or to a list of resources on a course's website.
When users click on the image URL that you provide, the ARTstor Image Viewer will open to display that particular image. Users can then zoom and pan the image, print it, review its associated data record, or save it just as they would if they had opened the Image Viewer from within the ARTstor application. Because the image URL will link directly into ARTstor, users will need to access ARTstor through a valid IP address (on-campus or through a proxy server/VPN), or need to have an ARTstor account so they can log in remotely.
Just like individual images, every image group in ARTstor also has a stable URL associated with it. The image group URL can also be emailed, embedded in documents, and added as a link to syllabi or to a list of resources on a course's website.
When users click on the image group URL, the Image Viewer will open to display the first image in that group. Controls at the bottom of the Image Viewer allow users to step through the other images in the group. Users can also zoom, print, and save each image from the image viewer. Again, users must access ARTstor through a valid IP address or have an ARTstor account for remote login.
If you are using the OIV to give presentations, you may wish to post these presentations to your course website for students and colleagues to download. To share your slide presentation for others to view, we suggest exporting it as a read-only file (don't forget to save your working file first to preserve all of your work). The read-only file will only save the slides in your presentation - without the images in the image palette. This minimizes the size of the presentation, making it easier for others to download.
In order for users to download then view the presentation, they will need to have OIV installed on their computer.
