Architecture of Philadelphia Collection
(Ralph Lieberman)

Overview

Through a recent agreement, ARTstor is sponsoring new photography on the part of Professor Lieberman. Ralph Lieberman has, as author and photographer, provided superb images for a rich array of scholarly publications in the history of art and architecture on topics ranging from the travel sketches of Louis Kahn to Italian Renaissance gardens, and from the architecture of Giorgio Vasari to that of Renaissance Venice. Initially, ARTstor is sponsoring an extended photographic campaign in Philadelphia in 2006-2007. This campaign, targeting the historic and contemporary architecture as well as the public art and sculpture of the city, complements the substantial body of work Professor Lieberman has previously done in Philadelphia, which provided the images for Michael J. Lewis' important study of the architecture Frank Furness. Professor Lewis (Williams College) is serving as a consultant to the present campaign. ARTstor hopes to continue to sponsor photographic campaigns by Ralph Lieberman as well as to explore the possibility of digitizing his existing photographic archive.
