Installation Photos from the New Museum of Contemporary Art Collection Now in ARTstor
ARTstor is pleased to announce the release of over 6,000 images into the New Museum of Contemporary Art Collection. The images document installations from the museum since its opening in 1977. This release coincides with the opening of the Museum’s new facility and greatly increases the Digital Library’s representation of contemporary art.
Since opening in 1977 the New Museum has followed a tradition of showing important contemporary artists before they became widely recognized. This collection’s images are drawn from the Museum’s photographic archive of exhibition installations and includes photos from artists such as Donald Sultan (1977), Keith Haring (1980), Richard Prince (1970), Jeff Koons (1980), David Hammons (1980), John Baldessari (1981), Adrian Piper (1981), Robert Colescott (1981), Mark Tansey (1981), Tony Oursler (1981), and Bill Jensen (1983). In addition to the artists mentioned above, the collection also includes, among others, works by the following artists: Tom Friedman, Joan Jonas, William Kentridge, Paul McCarthy, Ana Mendieta, Bruce Nauman, and Andre Serrano. Through this partnership, ARTstor has significantly increased the representation of contemporary art in the Digital Library.
