Artstor has released an additional 3,700 images to the Community Murals Collection (Timothy Drescher) in the Digital Library. The collection now includes 5,600 images from Drescher’s photographic archive of contemporary community murals in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Collected over the course of several decades, Drescher’s archive contains images of community murals from across the United States. Since these outdoor wall paintings are situated within living communities and exposed to the elements, many of the murals that Drescher photographed have been subsequently altered or destroyed. In curating a selection of images for Artstor, Drescher emphasized the documentation of entire murals, including details, photographs showing context, and depictions of mural creation. Drescher also provided cataloging information for all of the images in the collection.
