New Collection Agreement: World Monuments Fund
Artstor is collaborating with the World Monuments Fund (WMF) to share approximately 2,000 images of architecture, sites, and monuments from around the world in the Digital Library. The World Monuments Watch calls international attention to cultural heritage around the world that is threatened by neglect, vandalism, conflict, or disaster. WMF has worked in the field for more than 40 years and has participated in the conservation of sites as diverse as the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela in Ethiopia, Easter Island, Santa Maria Antiqua in the Roman Forum, Pompeii, Horace Walpole’s Strawberry Hill, the Dome of the Invalides in Paris, and Angkor Wat. The collection in Artstor will consist of images documenting various Watch List sites and monuments, with a particular focus on art and architecture.
