More than 1,000 images from The Metropolitan Museum of Art have been added to the Digital Library. This latest release brings the total number of images from the Metropolitan Museum encyclopedic collection to more than 8,700 in the Artstor Digital Library. Hundreds of these new images are also being made available through Images for Academic Publishing (IAP), now totaling 6,462 images in the Digital Library.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, founded in 1870 with a mission to collect, preserve, and display works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture from every part of the globe, and to educate the public about art, is the most comprehensive art museum in the western hemisphere with more than two million works of art in its permanent collection.
