New agreement: Images from Flemish museums and cultural institutions from Lukas – Art in Flanders
ARTstor is collaborating with Lukas – Art in Flanders to share approximately 5,000 images, which will feature works of art from more than 30 important Flemish museums and cultural institutions (see the full list here).
The Lukas collection in the Digital Library will contain works from a variety of periods ranging from the 8th century to the 20th century and media including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and illustrations. Major artists will include Hans Memling, Jan Provoost, Hieronymus Bosch, Peter Paul Rubens, Frans Hals, and James Ensor. The collection also includes new photography of The Mystic Lamb (the Ghent Altarpiece) of 1432 by Hubert and Jan van Eyck, painted for the St. Bavo Cathedral of Ghent. Additionally, all of the metadata records in the Digital Library will be made available in English, French, and Dutch.
Lukas, an online image bank, provides an archival repository and digital infrastructure for many Flemish museums and cultural heritage institutions and manages digital imagery of the finest works of Flanders’s artistic heritage.
