Flemish | Unidentified Old Testament scene with man kneeling before king Moredcai before King Ahasuerus, ca. 1580-1600 | Research Library at the Getty Research Institute

The Getty Research Institute has collaborated with ARTstor to make nearly 5,000 images of tapestries from its Photo Study Collection available in the Images for Academic Publishing (IAP) program. The Tapestries Collection at the Getty Research Institute constitutes one of the few comprehensive visual resources for the study of medieval and early modern European tapestries from the late 15th through the late 18th centuries, making this release a welcome resource for scholars and researchers.

The IAP program is intended to offload the costs of museums delivering high-resolution image files to scholars for academic publications, and to foster scholarly publication in the history of art by providing these high-quality TIFF image files free-of-charge to both ARTstor subscribers and non-subscribers alike. For more information, visit artstor.org/iap.

The Getty Research Institute is one of ARTstor’s nine current IAP contributors: the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, Princeton University Art Museum, Northwestern University Library, and University of California, Irvine, Bryn Mawr College, and the Walters Art Museum.
