ARTstor breakfast at ALA annual conference

ARTstor will hold a participants’ meeting on Monday, June 30 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the annual American Libraries Association conference in Anaheim, CA.

The agenda will include a collections update, a discussion of interdisciplinary uses of ARTstor, and a technology update with a focus on ARTstor Beta—our new Digital Library interface and software platform.

We will also be available for individualized meetings, which can be scheduled in advance by emailing userservices@artstor.org

ARTstor Events at Spring Conferences

Society of Architectural Historians Annual Meeting
Cincinnati, Ohio
April 23rd –27th, 2008
ARTstor will host a booth in the exhibit area of the Annual Meeting of the Society of Architectural Historians. Kimberly Henrikson (ARTstor User Services Specialist) will be available to answer your questions about the digital library and our collections, and to demonstrate ARTstor features and functions.

Digital Library Federation Spring Forum
Minneapolis, Minnesota
April 28th -30th, 2008

ARTstor staff will attend the Digital Library Federation Spring Forum later this month and will present a Bird-of-a-Feather session:

  • ARTstor — A Platform for Broad-scale Sharing of Digital Images
    April 29th 2:30-3:30 pm (Greenway J, Second Floor)
  • This session will report on ARTstor’s institutional collections pilot program as well as our plans for Hosting Phase Two. We will also share ideas about leveraging the ARTstor technology platform to provide a more open environment for sharing digital image collections. James Shulman (ARTstor Executive Director) and Carole Ann Fabian (ARTstor Director of Strategic Outreach and User Services) will present.

Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) Annual Conference

ARTstor staff will attend the ARLIS/NA conference in Denver, Colorado and will participate in conference sessions and host a User Group meeting:

  • Workshop: Cataloging Cultural Objects and Practical Applications in the Library.
    May 2nd 8:00am– 4:00pm (pre-registration required)
  • Johanna Baumann (ARTstor Metadata Associate) will co-present on the relationship between VRA Core 4.0 and Cataloging Cultural Objects (CCO).
  • ARTstor User Group Meeting

ARTstor at the Visual Resources Association Annual Conference in San Diego

ARTstor staff will attend the Visual Resources Association (VRA) Annual Conference in San Diego this month and will participate in a number of sessions as well as host a User Group meeting.
IPR Plenary Session: Image Rights: Perspectives from Copyright Owners

  • Gretchen Wagner, ARTstor General Counsel, will moderate a session in which representatives from artists’ estates and other copyright owners will discuss the use of copyrighted works and images for educational and scholarly purposes in the digital environment. The session will include presentations by Lauryn Guttenplan, Associate General Counsel, Smithsonian Institution; Kenneth Hamma, Executive Director, Digital Policy and Initiatives, J. Paul Getty Trust; Shelley Lee, Intellectual Property Rights Manager for the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein; and Jean-Marc Gutton, former Managing Director of ADAGP.

Breakfast with ARTstor at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting

Mark your calendar—ARTstor is hosting a Participants Meeting at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Monday January 14th, 2008 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.

ARTstor representatives will present an overview of ARTstor Digital Library collections, features and tools the Offline Image Viewer (OIV), and the Images for Academic Publishing project. We will close the meeting with a facilitated discussion on the topic of access and discovery of ARTstor content and ARTstor strategies for interoperability. A continental breakfast will be provided.
