Art Libraries Society of North America Annual Conference 2010

ARTstor staff will attend the Art Libraries Society of North America Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, from April 23 to April 26 and participate in sessions as well as host a User Group Meeting.   • Sunday, April 25:10:00am — Divide and Collaborate: Building Digital Collections One Piece at a Time. Elizabeth Darocha Berenz, User Services Associate, will moderate this session exploring the processes and workflows of digitization projects through case studies of collaborative digitization within an organization as well as partnership-based cooperation.
  • Monday, April 26:8:00am — ARTstor User Group Meeting. Learn about what’s new in ARTstor. Brief presentations by James Shulman, President, Elizabeth Darocha Berenz, User Services Associate, and Shalimar Fojas White, Collection Development Associate, will be followed by a Q&A session.

Visual Resources Association (VRA) Annual Conference

ARTstor staff will attend the 2010 Visual Resources Association (VRA) Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia from March 17 to March 20, 2010 and participate in a number of sessions as well as host a User Group meeting.

  • Wednesday, March 17, 2010:
    1:00 pm — Opening Plenary: Peter Brantley, the Internet Archive. Gretchen Wagner, ARTstor General Counsel, will moderate this session focusing on the potential for collective action among libraries and VR departments to protect and defend the role of the scholar and access to scholarly and educational materials.

    4:00 pm — ARTstor User Group Meeting. Learn about what’s new in ARTstor. Brief presentations by Dustin Wees, ARTstor Director of Metadata and Cataloging, Elizabeth Berenz, ARTstor User Services Associate, and Cara Hirsch, ARTstor Assistant General Counsel, will be followed by a Q&A session.

  • Thursday, March 18, 2010:

    9:00 am — By the Numbers: Gathering and Using Statistics. Elizabeth Darocha Berenz, ARTstor User Services Associate, will explore the unique needs and challenges of reporting and effectively evaluating the usage of multimedia resources.

  • Friday, March 19, 2010:

    12:00 pm — Intellectual Property Rights Committee Meeting. Gretchen Wagner, ARTstor General Counsel, will co-chair this session with Chris Sundt.

ARTstor staff will attend the 2010 College Art Association (CAA) Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois from February 10 to February 13, 2010. ARTstor representatives will be available at Booth 410 in the Exhibit Hall to answer your questions and demonstrate the latest ARTstor collections and features. ARTstor will also host two receptions in that space.

  • 2:00pm – “New Collections and Features in ARTstor” – Booth 410, Exhibit Hall, Hyatt Regency Chicago. One of two ARTstor receptions to learn about the latest collections and tools in ARTstor, and share your thoughts about future enhancements with James Shulman, President, and Christine Kuan, Director of Collection Development. Light refreshments will be served.

Friday, February 12:

  • 12:30pm – Panel session: “Erosion or Evolution? Scholarly Art Publishing in the 21st Century” – Grand EF, Gold Level, East Tower, Hyatt Regency Chicago. Christine Kuan, ARTstor Director of Collection Development, will chair this panel discussing scholarly art publishing in the twenty-first century. Speakers: Patricia Fidler, Yale University Press; David Brownlee, JSAH Online; Petra ten-Doesschate Chu, Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide; and Doug Dodds, Victoria and Albert Museum.
  • 2:00pm – “New Collections and Features in ARTstor” – Booth 410, Exhibit Hall, Hyatt Regency Chicago. American Library Association Midwinter Meeting 2010

ARTstor staff will attend the 2010 American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts from January 15 to January 18, but will not be exhibiting. ARTstor representatives are available to meet with ALA attendees individually; please contact Stephanie Krueger, Associate Director for Library Relations (stephanie.krueger@artstor.org) to schedule a meeting. Stephanie Krueger will also present initial research findings on how non-text electronic resources, including ARTstor, are being integrated into faculty course syllabi openly available on the Web.
